This just makes my day. We as CrossFitters who are already drinking the koolaid, we sometimes forget what it was like in the very beginning… and this made me grin from ear to ear…

Hey!

I’ve been meaning to write you back, but I can be shitty keeping up with personal emails. Sitting in front of a computer all day at work usually means I want to avoid glowing little screens when I get home…

Things are going good so far, I think. Ha. Kind of hard to tell on some days. My only objectives for my first month of classes is to a) show up 4 times a week  b) figure out what my 1RM’s are c) focus on technique. Most days, I’m just focused on surviving the WOD, which I’ve already established a love/hate relationship for (I’m no longer let myself look at the WOD online before I show up. It usually ends in me watching YouTube videos of what we have to do and being totally intimidated).

So, as a Crossfit newbie and a 604 newbie, here are some things I have to say about 604 on the whole:

  • You have great, kind, motivating coaches who take time to continuously educate me. During Onramp and into classes, each coach took the time to get to know me and my background ie. my janky right ankle, and how I can modify things accordingly.
  • Every class is filled with really NICE people! Very welcoming community. I love getting to know people in classes, even though I’m still a bit shy about it. But, people have gone out of their way to make me feel welcome.

I have various resistance bands, a lacrosse ball and kettle bell at home which I’m becoming more and more comfortable using on my own. I don’t really care about weight loss in terms of exact numbers (haven’t stepped on a scale in 3-4 years) at this point. Instead, I’m taking my body measurements at home every two weeks – happy to report that since Jan.6th, I’ve lost 6.5 inches! Definitely good motivation to keep “showing up.”

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks – to you and Riley, and all the coaches – I never thought I would be doing the things I do every day at 604. And further, never thought I could be doing the things I’m doing – a pretty awesome way to kick off 2014.
